About Us

We are the Semicolon Initiative, a student-led non-profit organization aimed at raising awareness for the rising issue of suicide within the adolescent community. We strive to educate students on the causes and impacts of suicide while also helping them navigate their mental health and well-being. Through our initiative, we intend to educate and bring awareness to suicide prevention in the youth community. We emphasize that a semicolon represents a pause in a sentence rather than an end, symbolizing hope for those struggling with mental health challenges. We encourage open conversations, support networks, and resources to help individuals continue their stories.

The Semicolon Initiative is a student-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and preventing teen suicide in The Woodlands and the Greater Houston Area. Founded in 2023 by high school students moved to action by the mental health crisis affecting their peers, the organization creates space for honest conversations, healing, and hope. Through workshops, awareness campaigns, peer education, and community partnerships, The Semicolon Initiative empowers youth and families with resources, support, and a message of hope: suicide is a problem, not a solution.

“Suicide is a problem. Not a solution.”
